We’re excited to announce the latest big enhancement to Sensei Pro — manage students in new ways using Groups and Cohorts.
Grouping students has been one of our most frequently requested new features. The latest release lays the foundation for quickly creating groups and better management of student enrollments.

How It Works
In Sensei, groups can be created to organize students. For example, group students from the same organization, those that purchased with a coupon code, or those in the same certificate program.
A cohort is any group that progresses through a course or courses together.
When you create a new group in Sensei, you can select which course or courses you want the students to have access to. Students added to the group will be automatically enrolled in any courses assigned to this group.
Configure dates with Access Periods so that cohorts will be enrolled and given access for the time range you specify.
Click on the new Groups menu item under Sensei LMS in your site’s dashboard to get started. Then, give your group a name, configure any courses you want for auto-enrollment, and begin adding students!

This release is just the beginning of groups and cohort tools to help you better manage your courses. In the coming weeks, we’ll be rolling out updates that will include:
- Filtering student reports by groups
- Hiding and showing content in a lesson based on a group
- Course start and end dates for Access Periods (without using groups)
